Court House Closed Temporarily

***PUBLIC NOTICE***

Upon the authority of the Johnson County Board of Commissioners, all citizens of Johnson County and other interested and affected parties are hereby notified that the Johnson County Courthouse and the courthouse grounds shall be closed to the public beginning at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022. This closure shall remain in effect until further notice. The Courthouse will be undergoing needed repairs over the next few weeks, thus necessitating this closure. We also ask that no one park their vehicle in the Courthouse parking lots during this time.

The Clerk of Court’s office and the Probate/Magistrate Court office will relocate to the former Swainsboro Tech building, located at 17 Cedar Creek Drive in the Cedar Creek Industrial Park off of Georgia Highway 57 East. The Sheriff’s Office will relocate to the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center, located at 230 Donovan Harrison Road. All court proceedings (Superior, Probate, Magistrate, Juvenile, etc.) will be held in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Johnson County Annex, located at 2484 West Elm Street, until further notice. Those persons needing to appear before one of these various courts shall be notified of the temporary location change.

During the relocation, all offices may continue to be reached via email. It is anticipated that the repairs will take approximately 8-12 weeks to complete. We apologize for any inconvenience. However, the repairs are necessary in order to help preserve the life and function of the Courthouse for many years to come.
